Speed can carry Dortmund to the Roses

The 141st running of the $2 million Kentucky Derby promises to be remembered for its quality, with a dynamite field assembled for the 1 ¼-mile classic.

The 20-horse cast features no shortage of legitimate win contenders and the crème of the crop belongs to Hall of Fame trainer Bob Baffert. The three-time Kentucky Derby winner will send out the probable top two choices in the wagering, American Pharoahand Dortmund.

“East Meets West”– Big Names Launch Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping North American League

The brand new Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping North American League was launched in Miami (USA) today by three of the biggest names in the sport – Beezie Madden, the most decorated US female equestrian athlete of all time and currently the only woman in the top 10 of the Longines world rider rankings, American Gold Cup winner and FEI Solidarity Ambassador Jessica Springsteen, and Hannah Selleck, team and individual gold medallist at young rider level and one of the sport’s up-and-coming stars.

United States Places Three in Top Ten at Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final

Las Vegas, N.V. – The 2015 Longines FEI World Cup Jumping Final concluded this afternoon with United States jumping elevating its status on the world stage, placing five athletes in the top 20, including three in the top 10. Twenty-nine starters came into the Thomas & Mack Center Arena in Las Vegas, N.V. for Round I with 20 moving forward to Round II, taking on two challenging tracks set by course designer Anthony D’Ambrosio. On a day when clear rounds were at a premium, the U.S. contingent proved its mettle.

Defending champions, Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro, lived up to expectations when winning the Grand Prix on the opening day of the Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage 2014/2015 Final at the Thomas & Mack Centre in Las Vegas, USA today. The reigning Olympic, World and European title-holders produced a brilliant test to finish over six marks ahead of The Netherlands’ Edward Gal and Glock’s Undercover, but the big hero of the day was America’s Steffen Peters who lined up third with Legolas just over two marks further adrift.

Ireland’s Bertram Allen and the brilliant grey mare, Molly Malone, won the opening Speed competition of the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping 2015 Final at the Thomas & Mack arena in Las Vegas, USA tonight. With a performance that mirrored his surprise success on the opening day of the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Normandy, France last September where he eventually placed individually seventh, the German-based 19-year-old simply left the rest trailing in his wake when going 32nd in the field of 40 starters.

It’s Warming Up in Las Vegas – Show Jumpers Set to Go at 2015 FEI World Cup™ Finals Nineteen Countries Represented on Warm-up Wednesday

Las Vegas,Nevada – April 15, 2015 – Casually dressed but definitely all business, horses and riders had 120 seconds to familiarize themselves and their mounts to the Thomas & Mack Center arena over a  track of eight obstacles set by American course designer Anthony D’Ambrosio in preparation for the 2015 LONGINES FEI World Cup™ Jumping Final.
