Chefs de Mission Meeting Brings Together Top National Federations from Around the World in Preparation for the FEI World Equestrian GamesTM Tryon 2018

Tryon, NC – May 8, 2017 – In preparation for the FEI World Equestrian GamesTM Tryon 2018 (FEI WEG), Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC) held the first Chefs de Mission meeting from Monday, April 30, through Wednesday, May 3, welcoming organizational leaders of national equestrian federations from around the world to the venue, as preparations for the Games continue.

NICHOLS CANYON TO MISS CALVIN HOUGHLAND IROQUOIS (GR. 1)

A top-drawer field was taking shape Monday for the $200,000 Calvin Houghland Iroquois (Gr. 1), but missing from Saturday’s race will be Nichols Canyon, the Sun Bets Stayers’ Hurdle winner who sustained an injury while shipping to the United States.

CLASSIC EMPIRE MORNING-LINE DERBY FAVORITE; GIRVIN MAKES INITIAL CHURCHILL DOWNS APPEARANCE

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Wednesday, May 3, 2017) – John Oxley’s Classic Empire was made the 4-1 morning-line favorite for Kentucky Derby 143 when post positions were drawn Wednesday morning in the Aristides Lounge at Churchill Downs.
Prior to the draw during morning training, Louisiana Derby (Grade II) winner Girvin galloped a mile at 6:30 in his first activity at Churchill Downs since arriving at the track Tuesday afternoon.

Sacksen and Martin Earn Dubarry Boots at Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, Presented by Land Rover

Lexington, KY, April 27, 2017-The first awards given out at this year’s Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Land Rover aren’t for performance, but rather, fashion. Allie Sacksen and Boyd Martin took home the Dubarry of Ireland ‘Best Dressed’ award during Wednesday evening’s welcome reception. They each earned a new pair of Dubarry boots as the best-dressed female and male riders at the first horse inspection, held on Wednesday afternoon.

Gorgeous Kitten Wins Wednesday’s Featured Taylor Made Purse

LEXINGTON, KY (April 26, 2017) – Ken and Sarah Ramsey’s homebred Gorgeous Kitten took the lead in deep stretch to win the $72,000 Taylor Made Purse by one length before 12,027 fans enjoying a warm, sunny Wednesday afternoon at Keeneland. (Click here for a video of the race.)  Ridden by Julien Leparoux for trainer Mike Maker, Gorgeous Kitten covered 1 1/8 miles on a firm turf course in 1:49.65.

Lexington, Ky., April 26, 2017 – The starting field of 60 has been whittled down by one following the first horse inspection at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event, presented by Land Rover. Known as the “Best Weekend All Year,” the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event Presented by Land Rover is being held at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, Kentucky, April 27-30.
