CONTENTIOUS LONGINES DIXIE STAKES HEADLINES PREAKNESS DAY UNDERCARD


BALTIMORE, 05-16-13—The undercard on Preakness Day offers more than $1 million in stakes purses with the $300,00 Longines Dixie Stakes (G2) serving as the centerpiece. Pimlico’s oldest stake, the Dixie was first run in 1870 as the Dinner Party Stakes and was won by the horse Preakness, who is the namesake of Old Hilltop’s signature race.

Fieldstone Spring Festival Kicks Off With Competitive First Day of Show Jumping Competition

Halifax, MA – May 15, 2013 – The first day of the Fieldstone Spring Festival welcomed the top riders in the nation to the new and improved Fieldstone Show Park. After an overhaul, the Fieldstone Show Park kicked off the first day of the weeklong show with thrilling hunter and jumper competition. David Oliynyk rode to the top of the 1.15m Jumpers, while Kristen Bumpus piloted Cupid to the top of the ranks during the 1.25m Schooling Jumpers as she tackled the course on the grass field.

Orb Breezes Half-Mile in 47.18 for Preakness; McGaughey Thrilled

ELMONT , N.Y. – Kentucky Derby winner Orb breezed a half-mile in a seemingly effortless 47.18 seconds Monday morning at Belmont Park in his final serious work for the next leg of racing’s Triple Crown, Saturday’s Preakness at Pimlico Race Course.  The series concludes Saturday, June 8, with the 145th running of the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park .

Pablo Barrios and Zara Leandra Capture $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic Victory

Lexington, KY – May 9, 2013 – The 2013 Hagyard Challenge Series kicked off with a big win for Venezuela’s Pablo Barrios and Zara Leandra during the $25,000 Hagyard Lexington Classic. Topping an 11-horse jump-off at the Kentucky Horse Park during the Kentucky Spring Horse Show, the duo made a dash for the cash that was uncatchable with a double clear effort in 38.258 seconds. Ireland’s Richie Moloney was right on his heels with Slieveanorra to claim second, while Margie Engle and Indigo took home the third place award.
