Triple Crown Hopeful American Pharoah Gets Acquainted with Belmont Main Track

ELMONT, N.Y. – Triple Crown hopeful American Pharoah went out onto a sloppy Belmont Park main track for the first time this morning to stretch his legs and become acclimated with his new surroundings as he prepares for Saturday’s Grade 1, $1.5 million Belmont Stakes as part of the Belmont Stakes Racing Festival presented by DraftKings, and perhaps a date with destiny.

American Pharoah, Keen Ice Depart Churchill Downs For New York

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Tuesday, June 2, 2015) -Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner American Pharoah walked the shed row of Barn 33 Tuesday morning before departing Churchill Downs at 10 a.m. (all times Eastern) for a van ride to Louisville International Airport for his flight to New York in anticipation of Saturday’s $1.5 million Belmont Stakes (GI).

Brands (GI) and Preakness Stakes (GI) winner American Pharoah continued his training for the June 6 Belmont Stakes (GI) by galloping 1 ¼ miles over a sloppy Churchill Downs main track on Monday morning at 8:30 a.m. ET with Jorge Alvarez up.

KENTUCKY DERBY’S TOP THREE HAVE PREAKNESS ON RADAR

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Sunday, May 3, 2015) – To set the stage for his press conference Sunday morning to reflect on this fourth victory, Hall of Fame trainerBob Baffert brought the star of the 141st Kentucky Derby — American Pharoah — out of the barn to pose for the cameras.

Bribing him with carrots, Baffert led the Zayat Stables colt to different parts of the circle of media and fans for photos and admiration. Several people reached out and petted the colt’s nose. After about 10 minutes of show, Baffert sent American Pharoah back to his stall and moved into the tell part of the program.

INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR JOSH GROBAN TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT 141st KENTUCKY DERBY(r)

LOUISVILLE, KY (Monday, April 6, 2015) –  Multiplatinum and award-winning  singer, songwriter and actor,  Josh Groban, will perform the national anthem at the 141st Kentucky Derby(r) Presented by Yum! Brands at historic Churchill Downs Racetrack (“CDRT”) on Saturday, May 2.

The performance by the internationally-renowned artist will take place in the Kentucky Derby Winner’s Circle just after 5 p.m. EDT, immediately prior to the race. The performance will be broadcast live as part of the NBC telecast of the Kentucky Derby.

Impressive Maiden Winner Flashy Gray Brings $775,000 on Tuesday at Keeneland

LEXINGTON, KY (Nov. 13, 2012) – Flashy Gray, a two-year-old filly by Flashy Bull who broke her maiden by 10¼ lengths at Churchill Downs on November 8, sold for $775,000 to West Point Thoroughbreds and Tom Keithley, contributing to double-digit gains across the board during Tuesday’s session of the November Breeding Stock Sale.

(May 7, 2012)—I’ll Have Another, who parlayed victory in the Grade I Santa Anita Derby on April 7 to victory in America’s most famous race, the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, not only brought home a winning purse of $1.2 million, he made 32-year-old Pasadena resident Greg Politano $16,300 as a result of a $1,000 win wager made by Santa Anita on his behalf.
