KENTUCKY HORSE PARK FOUNDATION NAMED A FINALIST IN TOYOTA’S 2012 100 CARS FOR GOOD PROGRAM

Lexington, Kentucky – May 14, 2012 – The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation announced today that it has been selected as one of 500 nonprofit finalists in Toyota’s 100 Cars for Good program, a major philanthropic initiative in which the automaker is giving 100 cars to 100 nonprofits over the course of 100 days. The Kentucky Horse Park Foundation was selected as a finalist from more than 4,000 applications nationwide.

USET Foundation Presents Pinnacle Cup to Allison Springer

Lexington, KY – May 2, 2012 – The United States Equestrian Team Foundation is pleased to announce that this year’s recipient of the Pinnacle Cup Trophy at the Rolex Kentucky Three-Day Event CCI**** is Allison Springer of Upperville, VA. Springer and her horse Arthur were the highest placed U.S. pair, finishing in second place at the top event, held April 29-29, 2012. Her remarkable score earned her the Pinnacle Cup Trophy, the red ribbon finish and the prize for best-conditioned horse.

Benefit Fiesta at Del Mar National Horse Show Raises Over $30,000 for USET Foundation

Del Mar, CA – May 10, 2012 – On May 4, 2012, the United States Equestrian Team Foundation hosted a benefit in support of the United States Equestrian Olympic Team at the Del Mar National Horse Show. The event helped raise over $30,000 in support of the Olympic and Paralympic efforts. Two hundred guests attended the exciting event, which featured margaritas, fiesta food, music and a live auction at Barn W of the Del Mar Fairgrounds.

Jennifer Alfano Sweeps First Day of Professional Hunters at Kentucky Spring Horse Show

Lexington, KY – May 9, 2011- Riders gathered at the Stonelea Ring to face the demanding hunter course as the first day of the Kentucky Spring Horse Show got underway. They were greeted with a brisk morning air, and a cloud filled sky, as the divisions commenced with top riders from across the nation competing for the winning honors in their respective divisions. Opening day marked the beginning of the First Year Green Working Hunter, Second Year Green Working Hunter, Green Conformation, Regular Conformation and High Performance Hunter classes. Leading the way in the Green Conformation Hunters was Hunt Tosh aboard Say Again, while Havens Schatt exhibited both Macallan and Valencia to top honors in the Second Year Green Working Hunters. It was Jennifer Alfano, however, who stole the show in the Regular Conformation Hunters with Lions Paw, as well as the High Performance Hunters with the revered Jersey Boy, sweeping both divisions.

DERBY WINNER I’LL HAVE ANOTHER SPELLS $16,300 IN CASH TO SANTA ANITA ‘DERBY OWNER FOR THE DAY’ POLITANO (Monday May 7, 2012)

ARCADIA , Calif. (May 7, 2012)—I’ll Have Another, who parlayed victory in the Grade I Santa Anita Derby on April 7 to victory in America’s most famous race, the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, not only brought home a winning purse of $1.2 million, he made 32-year-old Pasadena resident Greg Politano $16,300 as a result of a $1,000 win wager made by Santa Anita on his behalf.

ROSIE RETURNS TO BELMONT PARK AFTER HISTORIC VICTORY

ELMONT , N.Y. – After an eventful 24 hours, jockey Rosie Napravnik returned to Belmont Park Saturday afternoon with her first Grade 1 victory and a bit of racing history in tow. On Friday, the 24-year-old piloted Believe You Can to win the Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs, becoming the first female jockey to win the prestigious race for 3-year-old fillies.

Keeneland Connections Spotlight: Kentucky Derby Contenders

The five grade 1 prep races for the 138th Kentucky Derby were won by five different horses—Dullahan in the Toyota Bluegrass, Take Charge Indy in the Florida Derby, I’ll Have Another in the Santa Anita Derby, Gemologist in the Wood Memorial and Bodemeister in the Arkansas Derby. But there is one common thread for that group—all five were sold at Keeneland.

Dullahan, Bodemeister, Take Charge Indy and I’ll Have Another all were offered at the September sale while Gemologist was purchased at the 2009 November Breeding Stock Sale as a weanling.

Walt Robertson, Keeneland’s vice president of sales, proudly notes that 20 of the 28 graded stakes races on the Derby prep trail were won by graduates of the sales ring here.

Marks Sixth Consecutive Spring Meeting Without a Fatality on All-Weather Track

LEXINGTON, KY (April 30, 2012) – Keeneland’s 2012 spring race meeting proved to be an enormously successful finale for President Nick Nicholson, posting several records for attendance and wagering and boasting field sizes that are among the largest in the country. More importantly, it also marked the sixth consecutive spring meeting in which there were no catastrophic breakdowns during racing on Keeneland’s all-weather main track.
