Gucci has announced that it will be continuing its collaboration with equestrian show jumper and granddaughter of Princess Grace of Monaco, Charlotte Casiraghi.
This will be the second year that the 90-year-old fashion house will create a line for the 24-year-old competitive rider, who will wear Gucci to compete in the 2011 Global Champions tour.
Throughout its colourful and successful history, Gucci has created a strong relationship with the glamorous equestrian world.

It is an understandable connection, as the luxurious fashion house reflects the classic elegance of horse riding.
The riding line, designed by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini exclusively for Miss Casiraghi, continues the functional and structural style of the collection made for the rider last year.
‘I loved riding in the collection that Frida designed for me last year, and I love this new wardrobe even more,’ Miss Casiraghi enthused. ‘It’s the best of sport and style.’

In an interview for vogue.com, Frida Giannini named Charlotte Casiraghi as one of her 15 top fashion icons, saying she is, ‘the modern royal whose effortless elegance defies contemporary style.’
With this effortless elegance in mind, Giannini kept the line clean-cut and simple, with understated glamour.
‘Charlotte and her passion for show-jumping bring the spirit of Gucci to life so elegantly,’ Giannini said.
‘Our collaboration on the design of this new wardrobe was once again guided by the need for items to be both technically correct and stylish. The creativity and research behind this new wardrobe are a testament to the Gucci legacy of tradition and innovation.’
Every part of the collection is designed for optimal performance in jumping and training, making sure each piece ensures resistance and elasticity.

The line is dominated by navy, red and white, and features a unique rosette icon from the Gucci archives, which Ginanni has reinvented specifically for Miss Casiraghi.
The rosette first appeared as a brooch in the 1980s in another Gucci-Equestrian collaboration with the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI).
Giannini has recreated the rosette with Miss Casiraghi’s initials inscribed in the middle, and applied it to the blazers, buttons, saddle pads, rugs, blankets, and polos that she will be using while on tour.

Many of Gucci’s trademark designs will be featured in Miss Casiraghi’s collection, such as their signature green-red-green stripe, which will be recreated in a blue-red-blue variation.
In addition, their iconic luggage diamanté pattern will be found on the backpack and bag in a navy design.
