WINNIE, Texas – The PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour begins the 2013 season on the scariest night of the year in Winnie, Texas, on Wednesday, Oct. 31. The Nutty Jerry’s Halloween Xtreme tour stop is featured as part of the PRCA’s nationally-televised package on Great American Country (GAC) – and it offers a “Trick or Treat “atmosphere among the leading PRCA bull riders.
Fifty-two of the world’s top bull riders will converge on Nutty Jerry’s Entertainment Center Arena to take their shot at the prestigious Xtreme Bulls title. The showdown will include reigning World Champion Shane Proctor, of Grand Coulee, Wash.; and 2004 World Champion Dustin Elliott, of North Platte, Nebraska. The contestant field includes 10 of the 15 qualifiers for the 2012 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in December, headed by No. 1 Cody Teel, Kountze, Texas; No. 4 Kanin Asay, Powell, Wyo. and No. 5 Seth Glause, Cheyenne, Wyo.
The livestock stars of the Winnie, Texas, Xtreme Bulls event will include a number of rank PRCA bulls, including:
• 604 Jed Clampett – Frontier Rodeo Company. This bull has a 90 percent buck-off rate in 2012. Last covered ride was in January 2012 by Trevor Kastner for 85 points.
• 2783C Feeling So Fly – A Jaynes Gang/Jerry Nelson bull. Ardie Maier scored 88 on this bull in the Corpus Christi, Texas, PRCA event earlier this year.
• 809 Donaldo – Frontier Rodeo Company. Donaldo has an 80 percent buck-off rate in 2012 and an average score of 87.5 points on the successful rides. Ardie Maier covered this bull for 91 points at the Cheyenne (Wyo.) Frontier Days this year.
All of the bulls listed above have been selected to compete in the 2012 WNFR bull pen in Las Vegas.
All 52 riders will compete in a long-go on Oct. 31, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (CT), and the top 12 will be brought back for the finals, where the Winnie, Texas, Xtreme Bulls champion will be crowned based on the highest total score.
The payout for the Winnie, Texas, Xtreme Bulls event is $40,000. Money won at PRCA Xtreme Bulls Tour stops count towards the 2013 PRCA World Standings, which determine qualifiers for the December 2013 Wrangler NFR.
