LAS VEGAS \u2013 Reigning PRCA Tie-Down Roping World Champion Riley Webb isn\u2019t giving up his crown without a fight.<\/p>\n
The hard-charging Denton, Texas, cowboy has won back-to-back rounds at the 2024 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge.<\/p>\n
Webb\u2019s latest victory came in Round 2 with a 7.8-second run before 16,951 fans at the Thomas & Mack Center Friday night.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know about back-to-back wins or the first two but I\u2019m just trying to do my job and win as much money every night and it has worked out for me so far,\u201d Webb said.<\/p>\n
Webb arrived in Vegas fourth in the PRCA | RAM World Standings with $216,907 and trailing regular season leader Shad Mayfield by $69,440.<\/p>\n
He\u2019s closing that gap thanks to earning an event-best $77,374. He\u2019s only $16,193 back of Mayfield.<\/p>\n
Webb said he\u2019s using his experience to his advantage at his third NFR.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, you know you learn every year,\u201d Webb said. \u201cBut I just keep doing my job and keep upgrading and getting the job done. If I could get another horse and upgrade, I\u2019ll try to do it as much as possible and work on my craft. You can never be satisfied; you\u2019ve got to get out there and keep working there\u2019s always something to work on.\u201d<\/p>\n
This year at the Thomas & Mack Webb has implemented a different game plan.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast year I came in playing defense. I had a big lead, and I like to rope for offense you know go fast and win as much as possible,\u201d Webb said. \u201cLast year I needed to be smart, and you know I needed a big average check to help at the end of the week and I just kept knocking them down and doing my job. If I had a good one, I tried to place deep in the round if not I just tried to keep her tied down.
