Foxborough, MA\u00a0\u2014\u00a0October 25, 2022 \u2014\u00a0The Grooms Award, Ltd.,\u00a0recently returned to the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg, PA, the horse show at which it began recognizing and rewarding professional grooms for their contribution to the sport.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit 501(c)3 charitable organization presented gifts and prizes to the grooms of the horses that competed in two featured classes \u2013 the $30,000 Alltech\/Lifeforce 1.30m Grand Prix and the horse show\u2019s culminating event, the $100,000 Grand Prix de Penn National presented by Forrester Farm Equipment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ireland\u2019s Christian Coyle rode to victory for the second consecutive year in the\u00a0$30,000 Alltech\/Lifeforce 1.30m Grand Prix, riding his and Helen Litt\u2019s 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood gelding\u00a0Locato Van Het Kapelhof. Sharing in their victory for the class and overall 1.30m Jumper Championship was\u00a0Locato\u2019s groom,\u00a0Angel Galiardo.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n\n\n\n

Last on course for the\u00a0$100,000 Grand Prix de Penn National presented by Forrester Farm Equipment, five-time U.S. Olympian McLain Ward piloted Robin Parsky\u2019s 9-year-old Oldenburg mare\u00a0First Lady\u00a0to top honors. Helping to celebrate the mare\u2019s successful first time competing indoors was her groom,\u00a0Alexandra Jungkvist.<\/div>\n

Each of the winning grooms was presented with an embroidered\u00a0Grooms Award\/EquiFit\u00a0backpack filled with gifts including\u00a0Shapley\u2019s\u00a0grooming products, a\u00a0Haygain\u00a0tack room pillow and finishing towel,\u00a0Boy-O-Boy Bridleworks\u00a0keychain,\u00a0Tate\u2019s\u00a0cookies courtesy of Jimmy Herring, $100 cash in a custom Grooms Award pouch, and hats from Haygain and The Grooms Award, Ltd.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
Created to recognize the workers \u201cbehind the scenes,\u201d the Grooms Award was established in honor of Moira Caffarey (who unexpectedly passed away in 1997) and later George Hennessy (transporter for the USET). Friends of Moira donated a trophy for the first-ever grooms\u2019 award at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show in Harrisburg where individuals and companies donated prizes to be given to the winning groom. As donations increased each year, it was decided that each of the Grand Prix grooms deserved a \u201cThank You\u201d for their efforts and professionalism.<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
