TRYON, NC, USA \u2013 Brooke USA, sister charity of Brooke, the Official Charity of the FEI World Equestrian Games™ Tryon 2018 (WEG), has announced that renowned horseman Monty Roberts will be one of numerous presenters courtesy of Brooke USA to be highlighted at the World Equine Expo™, hosted September 11-23 at the Tryon International Equestrian Center (TIEC).<\/p>\n
Roberts, known as the \u201cMan Who Listens to Horses,\u201d is also an official Global Ambassador for Brooke, and has made it his lifelong mission to make the world a better place for horses and people. Concurrently, for more than 80 years, Brooke, the world\u2019s largest international equine welfare charity, has been dedicated to improving the lives of working horses, donkeys and mules and the families they support in the developing world. This aligned mission and Roberts\u2019 global impact on the welfare of equines was the impetus for Brooke USA to partner with Roberts to present demonstrations of his work during the games.<\/p>\n
Roberts is perhaps best known for creating the revolutionary equine training technique called \u201cJoin-Up.\u201d He has won countless awards and received immense worldwide press coverage, put three books on the New York Times best-seller list, trained some of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s equestrian team in England and been awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Zurich.<\/p>\n
Roberts will appear September 19 and 20 in Ring 1 at TIEC, first working with an American Mustang to demonstrate the \u201cHorse Sense & Healing\u201d program for veterans and first responders. Roberts will also show the power of horses to teach resiliency and trust by inviting a veteran with little-to-no horse experience, assisted by Monty and a horse to achieve \u201cJoin-Up.\u201d Roberts\u2019 second exhibition will demonstrate successful ways to work with a remedial issue in a horse.<\/p>\n

The FEI World Equestrian Games™, held every four years in the middle of the summer Olympic cycle, is the property of the F\u00e9d\u00e9ration Equestre Internationale (FEI), the world governing body for horse sport recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). It is one of the biggest events on the global sporting calendar, combining World Championships in the Olympic disciplines of Jumping, Dressage and Eventing, the Paralympic discipline of Para-Equestrian Dressage, as well as Driving, Endurance, Vaulting and Reining.<\/p>\n
The inaugural FEI World Equestrian Games™ were hosted in Stockholm (SWE) in 1990. Since then the Games have been staged in The Hague (NED) in 1994, Rome (ITA) in 1998, Jerez (ESP) in 2002, and Aachen (GER) in 2006. The first Games to be organised outside Europe were the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Kentucky (USA) 2010.
