LEXINGTON, KY (Oct. 30, 2015) \u2013 R3 Racing\u2019s Bailoutbobby made a sweeping move on the far turn and drew off to win the eighth running of the $200,000 Marathon (G2) by 5 1\/4 lengths over Majestic Harbor before a crowd of 44,947 on the opening day of the 32nd Breeders\u2019 Cup World Championships.<\/p>\n

Trained by Doug O\u2019Neill and ridden by Joel Rosario, Bailoutbobby covered the 1\u00be miles on a fast track in 2:56.75. (Click here for a replay of the race.)<\/p>\n

The victory was worth $120,000, a far cry from the amount Bailoutbobby earned in his previous victory at Keeneland: a $26,000 starter\/allowance race on Oct. 16, 2013.<\/p>\n

Majestic Harbor claimed the lead from Chairman Garey the first time past the stands and maintained that advantage to the far turn. At that point, Neck \u2018n Neck and favored Zambian Dream (CHI) moved to engage Majestic Harbor, but moving fastest of all behind those two was Bailoutbobby.<\/p>\n

Bailoutbobby swept past the leaders and began to open up at the head of the lane and was never threatened in the final stages.<\/p>\n

A Keeneland sales graduate, Bailoutbobby is a 5-year-old Kentucky-bred gelded son of Mizzen Mast out of the Stormy Atlantic mare Ride Her Out. The Marathon victory boosted his earnings to $352,441 with a record of 34-6-4-6.<\/p>\n

Bailoutbobby returned $11.40, $5.40 and $3.80. Majestic Harbor, who re-rallied to finish second under Corey Lanerie, returned $6 and $3.80 with Neck \u2018n Neck finishing a length back in third under Paco Lopez and paying $3.20 to show.<\/p>\n

The Breeders\u2019 Cup continues Saturday with nine championship races on Keeneland\u2019s 12-race program. First post time Saturday is 11 a.m. ET for the first of three Keeneland stakes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
