SALINAS, CA, August 17, 2012 \u2013 The California Rodeo Salinas is a premier event in the community, non only because of the prestige and tradition of the event, high attendance numbers and a big impact on the local economy, but because each year the organization gives back a significant amount of money to local charitable organizations. These groups often work out at the Rodeo and other events at the Salinas Sports Complex providing various services and executing vending activities such as parking cars, selling programs, selling hot dogs, bussing and cleaning various areas and more.<\/p>\n

The grand total of charitable earnings and donations this year came to $356,579.00. The groups that earned money during the California Rodeo and other events, such as the Monster Jam in May, include:<\/p>\n

Scholarships are also awarded each year to up to 10 local high school students. Donations were made to the Comprehensive Cancer Center at Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System, Ag Against Hunger, the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund (JCCF) and Friends of Rodeo. (FOR). The Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund assists injured rodeo contestants with their medical bills when they can\u2019t compete. Friends of Rodeo\u2019s mission is to educate the public about the sport of rodeo. The JCCF and FOR are the only two organizations on our list outside of Monterey County. All of the other non-profits are local so the money that you spend here at the Salinas Sports Complex throughout the year stays here in your community.<\/p>\n

Representatives from several groups attended the August 16th Director\u2019s Meeting of the California Rodeo Association to receive their checks from President Benny Jefferson.<\/p>\n

About California Rodeo Salinas<\/p>\n

The California Rodeo Salinas will take place July 18-21, 2013. The California Rodeo Association is a non-profit organization that strives to preserve and promote the traditions of the California Rodeo Salinas and the West. We support the community and other non-profit organizations through the staging of the annual California Rodeo Salinas and other year round operations of the Salinas Sports Complex.
