I have obviously got caught up in some other issues on the side and got cleared of any wrongdoing, still kind of goofy a little bit. But everything\u2019s going good and we every day give thanks to be part of the I\u2019ll Have Another team.\u201d<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cHe\u2019s doing great. He\u2019s con<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/equestrianinfluence.com\/horsehappenings\/files\/2012\/06\/Belmont_Stakes_Draw_L.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1324\" title=\"Belmont_Stakes_Draw_L\" src=\"https:\/\/equestrianinfluence.com\/horsehappenings\/files\/2012\/06\/Belmont_Stakes_Draw_L.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"220\" \/><\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">tinued to gallop good, his energy\u2019s been good, his appetite\u2019s been strong, and he\u2019s handled this whole journey as good as you could possibly ask a horse. He hasn\u2019t lost a bit of his flesh at all, his coat continues to shine and look great, so we couldn\u2019t ask for him to be coming in to this any better.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">[On whether he\u2019s talked to jockey Mario Gutierr<\/span><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">ez about how the race would set up] Not really. We\u2019re going to huddle up and talk; being in the 11th hole, we\u2019re able to kind of see how the pace sets up. If they\u2019re crawling, we\u2019ll hopefully be leading the crawl, and if they\u2019re flying, we\u2019ll be sitting in behind the horses flying.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cMario is just such a confident rider and he\u2019s so confident in I\u2019ll Have Another. They get along so well, so we\u2019re in good shape.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Dullahan (post position 5, 5-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Jerry Crawford, managing partner of owner Donegal Stable on the decision to skip the Preakness to train up to the Belmont Stakes<\/span><\/strong>: \u201cBill Mott told me one time the thing that makes a good owner is that you never disagree with your trainer\u2019s decision. I\u2019m here today as a bad owner. But I think [trainer] Dale [Romans] agrees that it all worked out for the best. If we had won the Kentucky Derby \u2013 and we thought we would, the race showed we clearly should have \u2013 we would have gone to the Preakness. Having failed to do that, if you examine the genetic code of Dullahan and his sire, Even the Score, it clearly mitigated in favor of giving him some rest and coming here.\u201d<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ll Have Another, as much attention as he has gotten, has really gotten his full due yet, and the reason is that Ahmed Zayat\u2019s horse, Bodemeister, has just been spectacular in both races, and yet I\u2019ll Have Another has managed to find a way to beat him in both races. Ahmed and I talked with Paul [Reddam] earlier today and told him we\u2019re going to do everything we can to keep him from being a Triple Crown winner, but after what he has already done, and if he gets it done Saturday, he\u2019ll not only be a worthy Triple Crown winner, he will have exceeded all possible expectations.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201c[Former President Bill Clinton] has certainly been invited. He didn\u2019t quite have all of his facts dialed in, but we appreciated his support.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Union Rags (post position 3, 6-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Owner Phyllis Wyeth<\/span><\/strong>: \u201cObviously, we have been a little disappointed, but we still feel Union Rags hasn\u2019t run his race. We had some problems in the Derby \u2026 But we still think he can do really, really well, and we\u2019ve switched jockeys to Johnny [Velazquez], and he just had a really nice work.\u201d<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Trainer Michael Matz:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cIf I had my choice I would have picked a little further out. I think the horse has enough speed to be in a decent position.\u201d<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Paynter (post position 9, 8-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Owner Ahmed Zayat:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cHe\u2019s more versatile than people think. He can probably do anything, but it looks like we have drawn a nice post. There is a lack of speed, so maybe he\u2019ll be on the lead, but I\u2019m not sure.\u201d<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cI don\u2019t think \u2018disappointed\u2019 is the right word. Our colt [Bodemeister] ran his heart out in the Derby . It was a spectacular, unbelievable Derby . We have an incredible horse in I\u2019ll Have Another. He\u2019s a true champ. He\u2019s a really, really nice horse. Seeing what I saw, you really appreciate the game more. You know how hard it is. So I really wasn\u2019t disappointed because coming out of a huge race, [Bodemeister] ran another huge race. We were just beaten be a better horse, fair and square.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cIf you asked me personally, I always thought Bodemeister is a very nice colt. Bob Baffert, [from] day 1, thought Paynter was the better horse. He thinks he\u2019s a really, really nice horse.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Street Life (post position 1, 12-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Trainer Chad Brown: <\/span><\/strong>\u201cI talked to my jockey the other day, Jose Lezcano, and I asked him, \u2018Where do you want to be?\u2019 and he said, \u2018I like to be inside.\u2019 You can\u2019t get any more inside than that. He got his wish. That\u2019s where he wants to be.<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cWhen it comes down to post position, I\u2019m more interested in what the jockeys want. He wants to be inside, so he\u2019s inside.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cI don\u2019t know that we\u2019re going to take him back. We\u2019re going to let him be where he\u2019s comfortable. He seems to take himself back. If the pace isn\u2019t very fast, I could foresee this horse closer&#8230;he\u2019s getting more mature, he\u2019s getting sharper every day I see him training out there.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cI think that he\u2019s going to evolve into a more versatile horse, you\u2019re going to see. Whether it\u2019s Saturday or not, I don\u2019t know, but as he matures, he will.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">My Adonis (post position 12, 20-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Trainer Kelly Breen<\/span><\/strong>: \u201cCan I change [the post] <em>(laughs)<\/em>? No, I think it\u2019s a good post, but I\u2019ll have to talk things over with Ramon [Dominguez] and figure out a strategy.<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Owner George Hall:<\/span><\/strong> <span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cWe think he\u2019s a good horse. We think he\u2019s got some class, and even though some of his races were disappointing, we think he\u2019s shown enough talent that we can make a case that he belongs in the field.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cOf course we have incredible memories of the Belmont , so just being in the paddock will be a privilege. But, again, we wouldn\u2019t do it just for the sake of doing it if we didn\u2019t think we had a horse with enough class.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Optimizer (post position 10, 20-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Trainer D. Wayne Lukas:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"> \u201cI think he\u2019s a better fit [than the Kentucky Derby or Preakness], but I\u2019m realistic. There\u2019s better horses in the race but the times that I have won it, there were better horses in the race then, too. So, we\u2019ll see. I think we\u2019re a good fit.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cPost has no bearing for us. I don\u2019t think anybody was upset with it. I think everybody\u2019s happy where they are. It really doesn\u2019t mean a lot here. There\u2019s a long run and big, sweeping turns, so I don\u2019t know that it makes any difference at all.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Atigun (post position 3, 30-1) and Unstoppable U (post position 2, 30-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Trainer Ken McPeek:<\/span><\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s good. I thought maybe we would be better off being outside Paynter, but inside, outside, we\u2019re the two speed horses [referring to Paynter and Unstoppable U], it looks like, so we\u2019ll let that unfold as it may. It\u2019s up to [jockey] Junior [Alvarado, on Unstoppable U].<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cThe other colt [Atigun] can run from about anywhere. I\u2019m glad he\u2019s inside, because he\u2019s going to need a ground-saving trip to win it.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cYes and no [on it being fun to be a Triple Crown spoiler with Sarava]. It\u2019s fun winning.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cI think even if we\u2019d have hit the board, it was OK. But yeah, it was kind of neat. It was a good day. Nobody threw any stones at me on the way out. It was fine; I\u2019m a bit bullet-proof, anyway. It was all positive. Not one negative comment from anybody. I think it would have been one thing if we\u2019d have beat him in a photo, but we didn\u2019t. <em>(Triple Crown contender War Emblem was eighth)<\/em><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cWe\u2019re in a good spot in that Unstoppable U is on the inside and the other horse is coming from behind, that works out well. But these horses admittedly are not of the class level of I\u2019ll Have Another, Dullahan, Union Rags. They haven\u2019t proven it at that level. So I really kind of needed to run both of them to have a real shot. \u201c<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Five Sixteen (post position 7, 50-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Anthony Bonomo, Jr., assistant to trainer Dominick Schettino and general manager for owner MeB Stable:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: black;\"> \u201cI think I\u2019m very happy with the draw. We were hoping for a 7-8-9, somewhere outside but not too outside, so it worked out very well for us. The horse is doing phenomenal. Our trainer, Dominick Schettino, has been doing a great job with him. He\u2019s been taking his time. We\u2019ve gradually brought him into this race, rested him. He\u2019s in the best shape he can be for this race. I\u2019ve always said Rosie [Napravnik is] one of the top riders in the country. Male or female, as a jockey, she\u2019s one of the top jockeys. By winning the Kentucky Oaks and winning constantly and being a top rider, I think we\u2019ve got a jockey that\u2019s going to really try and do well on him.\u201d<\/span><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Guyana<\/span><\/strong><strong><span style=\"color: black;\"> Star Dweej (post position 8, 50-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Owner\/trainer Doodnauth Shivmangal:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"> \u201cI was pleased with the eight. I prefer to be a little more inside, but the eight is a good draw for me. I like my horse to draw inside, but this horse is good and capable. He can do anything. The eight post is not a bad post for me. I like that he won\u2019t go early in the gate and get stale, and the eight is a lucky number for me.\u201d<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Ravelo\u2019s Boy (post position 6, 50-1)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: black; font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">Trainer Manuel Azpurua:<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"color: black;\"> \u201c<\/span>I\u2019m happy with the [post position] I got, six, and we\u2019ll see what happens. We decided to run after the race in Tampa . He had a problem in Tampa . He grabbed his front leg. We took 15 days to do what we have to do and after that he was his old self. We had to give him time.\u201d<span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Times New Roman; font-size: small;\">\u201cWe took our time with him, but he\u2019s come along. I believe we are in good shape now. He\u2019s been doing everything right. We took Alex Solis [to ride] 15 days ago, and he\u2019s liked the way he\u2019s looked. Like I told everybody, we have the black sheep of the race and anything can happen.
