Bedford, NY – June 7, 2012 – The second week of HITS-on-the-Hudson saw great competition as some of the nation’s top riders vied for the championship tricolors for their respective divisions. Cynthia Williams and New England Farm excelled in the hunter divisions; securing several championship wins in the Schooling Hunters, the Second Year Green/High Performance Hunters and the Adult Hunters.

Cynthia Williams rode Que Sera, owned by Sophie Cohen, to a sweeping win of the Schooling Hunters during the opening of HITS-on-the-Hudson II for the championship honors. Que Sera was also shown by Cohen in the Adult 18-35 Hunters. The duo took the second in the over fences, as well as the blue ribbon for their efforts in the under saddle.

Cohen also showed Hero in the Adult 18-35 Hunters. Together, they put down beautiful courses, and claimed the reserve championship. She also showed Hero to the first place finish in the $500 M&S/NAL Adult 18-35 Hunter Classic.

Williams also showed Grid Iron, owned by Natalie Gizzi LLC, navigating him to the Second Year Green Hunters/High Performance Hunters Reserve Championship. They earned the first, second and two fourths in the over fences. They also took the third place for the under saddle. In addition to their excellent ribbons, Williams exhibited Grid Iron in the Hi-Low Hunters, riding to two straight blues.

It was Jennifer Padovani aboard Believe You Me, owned by White Hill Farm, who dominated the Adult 36-49 Hunters. They were awarded with a first, two seconds and a third place ribbon over fences. They also took the blue ribbon for the under saddle and were presented with the championship award. Padovani claimed the third place prize in the $500 M&S/NAL Adult Hunter Classic.

“Believe You Me is a wonderful young horse that is super brave, loves his job and is so much fun to ride,” Padovani explained. “Going into the ring you can see his expression, and he almost looks like he is smiling.”

“Although last Sunday was so sloppy and muddy, and some of the horses were getting agitated with the weather, he rose to the occasion and accepted the challenge. He always does,” Padovani elaborated. “He has such an even rhythm and he measures the distance to the jumps so well, that if you stay out of his way he will do his thing.”

Padovani concluded, “I have a running joke in the barn when it comes to Cynthia. It is almost like the story of Goldilocks, the bears knew when someone had sat in their chairs and slept in their beds. You know when Cynthia has ridden your horse-he goes absolutely perfectly. I think it was her training and riding that gave us the edge, he went into the ring with a loop in the reins and went awesome to the jumps. He is so well trained and is always prepared for the ring.”
