Las Vegas, NV – The first night performance of the 2014 WNFR did not disappoint the sold out crowd at the Thomas and Mack arena last night.  Rookie Bull Riders were making history last night.

Rookie Bull Rider, Joe Frost, scored an 85.5 on board Rattler to win round one of the always crowd pleaser event, Bull Riding.  Joe came into last night event  5th in the world standings.  This morning, Joe moves from 5th to 3rd place in the Projected World Standings.   The 1st Performance record still stands with Donnie Gay’s 94 point ride in 1974.  Donnie is the Bull Riding Event commentator for CBS Sports Network.

First place in the World Standings going into the 1st round performance was another rookie, Sage Kimzey.  Sage could not reach 8 seconds against the #1 Bull of the Year, Cross the Wyoming Line owned by Summit Pro Rodeo, for no score.  Sage holds onto his first place ranking in the Projected World Standings.  Sage was the winner of the  Permit Holder Challenge in 2013.  It has been quit a year for the rookie bull rider.
