Wellington, FL – January 26, 2015 – It’s a bird, it’s a plane-no it’s Superman! He’s riding for his team, faster than a speeding bullet, leaping over tall obstacles on his way to securing the top prize to benefit local charities at the 2015 Great Charity Challenge. The 2015 Great Charity Challenge theme is “Superheroes,” with equestrians and supporters saving the day for a number of worthy charities in Palm Beach County. For the first time, Horses Healing Hearts (HHH) has been selected along with 34 other charities to have the chance to earn significant donations as a part of the 2015 Great Charity Challenge at Winter Equestrian Festival (WEF).

Horses Healing Hearts was selected in a lottery style drawing from among 400 applicants. Although the charity has not been selected in previous years, it was a recipient of a surprise grant of $25,000 from the event in 2013.

This is the sixth year of the Great Charity Challenge. The event will take place during the “Saturday Night Lights” series at the horse show on February 7, 2015. The event has an outstanding record of providing much needed resources to local charities, raising $2.25 million for 34 charities last year alone. More than 100 charities have benefited since the inauguration of the event, with greater than $6.2 million being handed out.

In addition to this event, the fourth annual White, White West Party, hosted by the International Polo Club, benefitting HHH will take place February 20, 2015. Both of these charity nights embody the superhero motto of, “If there is nothing but what we make in this world, brothers… let us make it good.”

The Charity Challenge is a highlight of the 12-week festival. Companies and equestrian families sponsor thirty-five teams, and each team competes for one of the chosen charities. All participating charities are guaranteed a minimum of $15,000 with the winning team bringing home $150,000. This year’s Superheroes theme will see riders dressing as their favorite character to help save the day for these wonderful local charities. Doors will open at 6 p.m. with free general admission. Come cheer on Horses Healing Hearts as riders soar up, up and away for a night that’s sure to be epic!
