O’Connor Leads American Olympic Games Effort, Germany Sweeps Gold

Greenwich, UK – The German Olympic Eventing Team was in a class of its own as history was made at Greenwich Park. Michael Jung led a charge that finished with him winning Team and Individual Gold in a flawless effort on Sam. They were the only combination to finish the entire competition without adding anything to their dressage score. That score of 40.6 meant that Jung is the first person ever to be the reigning European, Olympic, and World Champion simultaneously. Read more »

British Equestrian Artists: John Wootton 1678/82/83?-1764

The date of Wootton’s birth is debatable but 1683 is most likely. He is thought to have been born in Snitterfield, Warwickshire. He studied under Jan Wyck and possibly Siberechts, as a watercolour is recorded signed by both Wootton and Siberechts. As Siberechts was at least fifty years older it would seem likely that it was a student/master collaboration. Read more »
